Marjan, a 178 meter-high hill in the westernmost part of the Split peninsula is a protected forest park which offers numerous possibilities to its visitors such as enjoying the silence in the shade of the pine wood. You can also take part in cultural, historic, and sports activities as well as refresh yourself in restaurants. It takes 10 minutes to walk from the city centre to the first vista point from where you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the city of Split, the sea and the islands in front. The first vista point is also well-known for the old Jewish cemetery and a caffe Vidilica. If you climb higher up you can visit the Marjan zoo and botanical gardens as well as a lot of historical and cultural locations.

Marjan also has wonderful beaches and coves, favourite destination to numerous inhabitants in the summer time. Recreational Centre Bene is 15 minutes walk from the north Marjan gate or 5 minutes drive on a tourist train. You can get to Bene by car, too, from the south and west side. The Centre has a parking lot, three tennis courts, football ground and artificial turf, beach volleyball ground, badminton court, a space reserved for waterpolo, and a gym with dressing rooms with adjoining showers. Children have electric cars, a diving board, inflated castles and other facilities at their disposal. In this exceptional surroundings there is also a restaurant with a garden situated at the very seashore with live music in summer months.
